Overview
FastFork ("the App") is a mobile application that helps users find restaurants along a driving route. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data the App collects, how it is used, and your choices.
Data We Collect
Location Data
The App requests access to your device's location to provide your current position as a starting point for route searches. Location data is sent to Apple MapKit (for routing) and Google Places API (for restaurant search). We do not store your location on any server.
Search History
The App stores your recent searches (origin, destination, and result count) locally on your device using SwiftData. This data never leaves your device and can be cleared at any time from the Settings screen.
Favorites
Restaurants you save as favorites are stored locally on your device. This data never leaves your device.
Subscription & Purchase Data
In-app purchases and subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple's App Store. We do not collect or store any payment information. Search usage counts are stored locally on your device's Keychain.
Advertising Data (Free Tier Only)
If you are using the free tier, the App displays ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob automatically collects the following when an ad is shown:
- Device identifiers (such as a non-resettable device ID used for SKAdNetwork ad attribution)
- Advertising data (ads shown, clicks, impressions)
- Product interaction (in-app events related to ads)
- Crash and performance diagnostics
- Coarse location (derived from IP address)
FastFork does not request App Tracking Transparency permission and does not use the IDFA (Identifier for Advertisers) to track you across apps or websites. Ads shown are non-personalized. Pro subscribers do not see ads and this data is not collected for them.
Analytics (TelemetryDeck)
We use TelemetryDeck, a privacy-first analytics service, to understand aggregate usage patterns so we can improve the App. TelemetryDeck receives:
- A single event per search ("search.performed") containing your subscription tier (free or pro), a bucketed route length (e.g. "20-100 miles"), and the number of results returned.
TelemetryDeck does not receive your location, restaurant names, origin or destination addresses, search history, or any personally identifiable information. TelemetryDeck generates a random, salted, per-app install identifier that cannot be used to identify you personally, is not shared with other apps, and is hosted in the EU in compliance with GDPR. See TelemetryDeck's Privacy Policy.
Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services:
- Google Places API — To search for restaurants near your route. Your search coordinates are sent to Google's servers. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Apple MapKit — For route calculation and map display. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Google AdMob — Displays ads in the free tier. See details in the "Advertising Data" section above, Google's Ads Privacy Policy, and how AdMob uses data.
- TelemetryDeck — Privacy-first, anonymous, aggregate usage analytics. See TelemetryDeck's Privacy Policy.
Data Storage
All user data (search history, favorites, settings, search usage counts) is stored locally on your device. We do not operate any servers and do not collect, transmit, or store your personal data remotely.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with third parties. The only data transmitted from your device is:
- Coordinates sent to Google Places API to perform restaurant searches
- Coordinates sent to Apple MapKit for route calculation
- Device identifiers and diagnostics collected by Google AdMob for ad serving and attribution (free tier only)
- Anonymous, aggregate analytics events sent to TelemetryDeck (tier, route length bucket, result count) — no personal data
Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your Choices
- Location: You can revoke location access at any time in iOS Settings.
- Search History: Clear your search history from the App's Settings screen.
- Favorites: Clear all favorites from the App's Settings screen.
